Il Day return ticket è quel particolare tipo di biglietto che consente, ad un prezzo scontato, di andare e tornare da un luogo purché il viaggio si compia in giornata. E` il biglietto del pendolare, di quella particolare tipologia di viaggiatore che come un ingranaggio in una catena di montaggio, ogni giorno, compie lo stesso tragitto, segue le stesse traiettorie, vede sovrapporsi in rapida successione immagini di periferie urbane ad altre più metropolitane, ma ormai senza più percepire alcuna differenza. La visione diventa allora sfocata e lo spazio come sospeso. Day return ticket riunisce Scansione, (2006) di Lorenzo Casali, video che registra il quotidiano pendolarismo acustico e visivo dell'artista tra Saronno e Milano, sei foto della serie Vetro sporco (2007) di Ciro Meggiolaro, per il quale - nel viaggio, in qualsiasi viaggio, è come se il vagone si trasformasse in una bolla di sapone. E il guardare fuori attraverso i vetri è camminare rimanendo fermi - e Beyond nature, (2007) di Serena Porrati, assemblaggio ‘found footage’ di sequenze e frammenti tratte da film di famiglia girati in Europa, America e Sud America dagli anni Cinquanta ai giorni nostri. Comune ai lavori in mostra sono l'idea dello spostamento, inteso come viaggio pendolare, ma anche come volontario allontanamento mentale dal quotidiano, la forte percezione di una momentanea sospensione temporale, la dilatazione della geografia, urbana e non, fino ad avere una visione appannata del paesaggio, non tanto per via del vetro che si frappone fra l`occhio e ciò che si guarda o della scarsa qualità del girato quanto per lo status mentale che produce lo spostamento fisico. Una dimensione che dalla normalità quotidiana, come per una controindicazione ipnotica determinata proprio dal movimento va oltre, Beyond nature

appunto, e diventa metafisica.

Day Return Ticket is a particular type of public transportation pass, a discounted round trip that must be completed the same day. It is made for the commuter, that particular type of traveler that - just like the mechanism of an assembly line – travels the same route, performing the same trajectories every day. The commuter sees a fast series of images, the outer fringes and suburbs superimposed with those of the city, so that the commuter can’t perceive the difference anymore. The vision becomes out of focus and space is suspended.Day return ticket brings together Scansione (Scanning, 2006) by Lorenzo Casali, a video that captures the visual and acoustic experience of the artist on his daily commute, from Saronno to Milan.Six pictures from Ciro Meggiolaro’s series Vetro Sporco (Dirty Window, 2007) who feels that in the journey, as in any journey, it is as if the train carriage is transformed into a soap bubble. Looking outside through the window, it’s like traveling without moving.Beyond Nature (2007) by Serena Porrati, is an assembly of “found footage” sequences and fragments that come from home movies filmed in Europe, United States, and South America, from the 1950s to the present. All the works have this in common: the idea of movement intended as a commuter trip, as well as a voluntary mental disassociation from the daily routine; the strong perception of a temporary suspension of time, the dilation of geography, both urban and non-urban, that creates an unfocused vision of the landscape, not so much due to the window interposition between the eye and what’s seen - or the scarce quality of the filmed - but due to the mental status that produces the physical movement. A dimension that goes beyond is own nature, as if in a hypnotic counter-indication determined by the same movement, that becomes metaphysical. (F.R.)
